In the spirit of Downers Grove’s summer celebrations, the Downers Grove Plowboys will host the 4th annual “Plowboy Classic” Vintage Base Ball tournament July 11th, 2009. Six Vintage Clubs from Illinois, Indiana, & Wisconsin will join the Plowboys for a giant day of base ball matches on the field between Herrick Middle School and DG North. Scheduled opponents: Milwaukee Grays - Sharon WI Slammers - Creston Regulators - Midway Village Marauders - Chicago Salmon. The Plowboys are a living history program of the DG Park District Museum and re-create base ball matches by the original rules of base ball from 1858.Come re-live the past of Downers Grove and enjoy the fast-paced action of bare knuckle base ball.
